Day 44 - Friday 7/31

Lollislops

They were given a selection of lollipops for the Have-nots and the ants, and James selected Liz, Julia, and Austin to move into the dental office - "Austwins" if you will

In a delightful turn of events since I shut them off around 4.30am, James changed his pre-nom choices to Shelli and Clay, at least according to what he's been telling some and hinting to others.. it's reminiscent of Jennifer turning on Kaysar after the infamous 14-hour Pressure Cooker endurance of BB6, but this will make more feedsters happy than that one did.. I just hope there's enough popcorn left after last week because we're going to need it

Crouching Status Tiger Thing

That title is James' perfect Jamesism for his winning wall strategy.. sure enough, he put up Shelli and Clay, the feeds exploded on cue, and it was glorious.. apparently both Shelli and Clay had outbursts at the noms or soon after, so Sunday's show should be fun.. they took to their angry bed afterwards while the rest of them milled around outside, feigning shock

Shelli and Clay ran a few angry, indignant, and hypocritical loops to each other, then pulled James into the parlor and ran them for him, as if he could undo the noms or had a vote.. he countered well and kept his cool, earning a standing ovation from most who were watching - Flashback 7/31 4.13pm.. meanwhile Vanessa ran around crying and/or ranting to various others about INTEGRITY, current and ancient history, claiming innocence and protesting far too much, like she does

Shelli kept saying she didn't want to be in there or jury house without Clay, demanding to know "Why this week? Whyyy?" à la Nancy Kerrigan.. Vanessa told them not to give up, that one of them could still win and they might get married one day so they'd get to share the money anyway (what?).. she went on to say when she heard James talking about a pair with an "unbreakable bond" she thought he'd meant the twins, but Shelli pointed to herself and Clay saying "this is the unbreakable bond" (what??)

Later Shelli's tears finally came for Vanessa about how unfair it all was that "they" decided to break up her and her boy the week before jury.. meanwhile the rest of them ran rampant around the habitat, discussing all the repercussions, and trying to avoid Vanessa - she alternated between anger and tears, depending who she was talking to and what stage of The Vanessa Chronicles she was in.. Becky, along with Johnny, later ratted her out to Shelli, saying Vanessa had been throwing Shelli under that old bus, and on it goes

Things finally settled down to a dull roar, with some psst-pssting here and there but most of them were lively and upbeat, except for the nominees of course.. they stayed in their angry bed much of the afternoon and evening, and later ate in angry near-silence while a group of others were laughing it up down the hall in the bathroom.. Shelli finally emerged to join in late night charades but she didn't stay out for long.. Vanessa blew up at her a couple times in a later greenlight chat about loyalty and past history again/still, cussing and saying how she's "fuckin done enough, fuckin done here!" - Shelli really didn't need to hear how bad Vanessa's day was, and neither did anyone else.. they didn't pick players for veto yet but you can bet they will be competing their brains out when they play this one on Saturday

Day 43 - Thursday 7/30

Eleventh hour fail

I think Shelli and Clay pretty much decided not to go with Jason's pitch after he made it last night, and that was confirmed today when Shelli happily reported it to Becky.. Becky feigned shock that Jason said she'd put up "the power couple" at a double eviction (even though she had said that), and the many spools of lies just keep unwinding.. Becky later reported it to Meg, and said she was fired up to win tonight

They were told to wear athletic clothes for tonight's HOH comp, and feedsters clapped our hands with glee.. if it's endurance, let's hope for a long one - get your feeds to watch it play out, if you still don't have them

To the wall

Jason was evicted 7-2 with only Meg and James dissenting, and Julia re-entered the habitat after a short sit-down onstage with Julie.. she knew they had been nominated but not that Liz had won the BOB, but Julie filled her in and called the others to the living room monitor for the anti-climactic twins news bulletin, ding-dong, and happy sisters reunion

Julie also told them and us that BOB is mercifully over and yep, endurance comp! They headed out to the punishing wall where they got leaned, sprayed with cold water, blown by a wind machine, splattered with guano, and battered with stuffed eagles.. they were in place at 6.53pm and the drops were as follows - most of them came off in one-two pairs with less than a minute between them:

7.36pm Steve, followed by Austin
7.40pm Meg, followed by Julia
8.21pm Jackie, followed by Liz
8.36pm Becky, followed by Clay

Just after the two-hour mark at 8.57pm, Shelli pitched a deal to James and Johnny saying she'd give it up to them if they wouldn't put up her, Clay or each other.. Johnny fell off mid-pitch, James agreed, and Shelli jumped off.. The spectators had been getting nearly as much cold water spray as the competitors and at some points, they looked like forlorn kids whose mom forgot to pick them up at the pool

Liz and Julia had a long catch-up convo about the past week that was fun to see, our first unedited witnessing of their info exchange.. it also proved to be refreshing having them both in there, since they don't partake of the phony "nice" talk that's typical for hamsters (and considered required by most).. the mystery of where they'd put Julia on the photo wall was solved: she got Jace's spot! Maybe that'll rotate.. Clay, Shelli, Steve had a very quiet Have-not midnight meal, and then came the hollering and ooh'ing and aah'ing over James' pics and goodies.. his letter was from his baby-momma Breanna, co-signed by her son Landon and their daughter Baleigh.. he also got pics of his famous gigantic cat

And then came the "don't put me up" talks, thinly disguised as "I want to work with you" as usual, and then all hell broke loose

James pretty much made safe deals with everyone, including Vanessa, Austin, and the twins.. Becky sat in on James, Meg, Jackie talking about backdooring Shelli or Clay anyway, and she ran that back to Clay.. Shelli's head exploded a little when Clay told her about that: she got snappy with him, he snapped back a bit, and then Shelli told Vanessa about it even though Clay suggested they wait on that.. all three of them basically pleaded innocent to themselves and each other about having booted Jason, and Shelli and Clay headed up to tip-toe around the subject with James

It was a good time that lasted til 4am and beyond, and kept going without me.. the last I heard, James is all about deals be damned, "checks will be bounced," and he's planning to put up Vanessa and Liz, with Shelli as preferred backdoor target, but he and his cronies will let everyone think the target is Steve, or Austin? I lost track.. Jackie already let Vanessa know she was probably going up, and who knows what Becky will tell whom about what.. as always, it's all subject to change without notice

LINES OF THE DAY

Friday
James to Vanessa: I didn't do it just for my game, I did it for everyone's
[much like what Vanessa always says]

Shelli: I wasn't yelling at you - that was pure emotion, you know that, right?
Vanessa: No, I don't! Did you not hear what you said?

Shelli: They are LYING and think we broke our word to the Dark Moon alliance

Jackie: [Shelli]'s like the selfish one - no, but she loves him
Meg: She loves him? What the hell is this?

Shelli: I'm all about making big moves but I would NEVER make a deal in front of the whole house and then turn against it

Johnny to Shelli: [Vanessa]'s trying to put it like you strong-armed her, and everybody's eating it up

Shelli to Clay: It's just not fair that it's us

Austin to Vanessa: This is a field of land mines, this is a dicey situation this week

Thursday
Big Brother: Liz, please put on your microphone
Liz: It's Julia! Liz has her microphone on!

Liz to Julia: I know you hate [Austin], but you have to suck it the fuck up

Austin: I don't know who you're working with, other than Meg
James: Meg, and possibly Jackie

James: I think I'll just say the hell with it, go play up there and face the wrath of Shelli

Shelli to Clay, Vanessa: They're LYING and think we broke our word to the Dark Moon alliance!

Shelli: We have to worry about THIS week!
Clay: Don't get a face like that
Shelli: I was just laughing!

Meg re camo shirt: You seriously wear this so people can't see you?
James: So the deer don't see me

VTE = Voted to evict

So happy they eliminated BOB and we're back to the dirty tricks and backstabbing we love. I am combining Julie's premiere fibs into one goof on the tally because I'm feeling charitable, and because we didn't need a twist a week or BOB in the first place. After all the speculation in there and out here about where they'd put Julia's pic on the photo wall, it was rude but kind of hilarious that they gave her Jace's spot.

VTE Jason
He didn't do well on the Wall but I don't think anyone expected him to. Those big guys never do, and I think he's the biggest we've ever had. He's not as smooth with his Liz moves as he was before Julia came along, and that can't be a bad thing. Maybe the torches 'n pitchforks crowd will ease up a little.

No vote (nominee)
I had a lot more fun with her when she was playing the ditzy extra than this new Becky who fancies herself a gamer of the first degree. Like Clay, she learned about BB when she was recruited for it and like Clay, she thinks she knows everything there is to know about it after marathoning a few seasons. It doesn't work quite that well but hey, she's still here so more power to her.

VTE Jason
NOMINATED
Even his hissy fits fail to amuse lately - being a petulant child about his mic, telling BB to 'shut up' and slamming doors just isn't the fun kind of hissy fit. I guess I should give him a little credit for letting Shelli continually talk about him inevitably getting the boot instead of her, but maybe he'll work his way up to rebelling or even questioning that assumption one day.

VTE Jason
I know a lot of people are singing her praises, and she has been instrumental as a double agent (aka the dreaded floater word) more than once, but I just don't get much entertainment value from her. Maybe it's me.

Won: Outback dinner
VTE Becky
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD
Super big ups for doing so well on the Wall, for agreeing to Shelli's deal to end it, and then going back on the deal to put her and her plaything on the block. On top of all that, he handled their lengthy harangue like a champ, and he fended off Vanessa just as well every time she cornered him.

Won: 1 week Wackstreet
VTE Jason
He was the forgotten third finisher on the Wall, and he deserves credit for that. He's been getting tagged as a rat out here on Friday because he dared to talk game and tattle about Vanessa to Shelli.. who cares? He's been tagged a floater coaster up to now by his detractors. I figure those folks are just jealous of his huge popularity. There aren't many hamsters who trend on Twitter without being evicted or knocking someone out, but he keeps doing it, and now he's gotten the first mention of the season on 'The Soup' as well.

Won: ½ week Wackstreet
No vote (not in yet)
Kudos to her - to both of them really - for surviving long enough to be separated. It was fun seeing Julia get to be herself finally, sharing her own stories and experiences, and comparing notes with everyone about which twin was there for what.

Won: ½ week Wackstreet, Outback dinner
VTE Jason
She did well on the Wall, missing the finish by only 15 minutes or so. I love having them both in there: unlike everyone else's convo pairings, we know they'll be truthful when alone with each other.

Won: Gronk party cruise
VTE Becky
She did okay on the Wall, but of course she's been leaning all season so she was in great shape for it.

VTE Jason
NOMINATED
Legit ups for her performance on the Wall, with easy point 'n laugh ups for her ridiculous entitlement issues and resentment at being nominated, not to mention thinking it was all a calculated personal attack to rip her away from her boo.

VTE Jason
He threw himself off the Wall like a non-champ, and licked his wrapped lolly the next day like a weirdo. They all keep bad-mouthing him but he's not going anywhere yet - he's a keeper! I especially love how he keeps feeding them false info, such as telling Shelli and Clay that he 'couldn't remember' anyone going back on an endurance drop deal before (ha!)

Won: Outback dinner
No vote (HOH)
Aww she had a bad day because her minons were nominated, partly mostly because of her manipulating them and then lying about it to them and everyone else. Boo freaking hoo. She's starting to act like Audrey, having issues whenever she's safe, but she's not a bit entertaining about it like Audrey was.

Won: 1 week Wackstreet
EVICTED 7-2
Another superfan who found out it's easier to play BB from home, he fell into Vanessa's disastrous Renom Roulette wheel and went out earlier than many hoped. He got mouthy about many of them and popped some good funnies, but he laid around most of the time until it was too late. He gave us some of the best reaction faces of all time, especially the night they played squicky truth or dare - he even had a dedicated cam for much of it. He mentioned this site often, usually saying it's 'hard to navigate' so he'll probably never see this.

Won: Nothing
She was erratic and unpredictable, and the random ways she kept them stirred up made for some of the best feeds in ages. And as a bonus, she featured in all the fights, many because the others didn't believe her telling truths. They did buy most of the fibs, and without 'empirical evidence,' but they fell for her wacky gameplay more than twice. She marooned herself in a bed and a dental chair, with some laughs in between, and she got the 2nd ever penalty vote. I enjoyed watching her, and will miss her.

Won: Nothing
I haven't given many empty wheels before their time, and I don't think any of those got them as early as he did. But we've never had such a misogynistic, inappropriate, and unfunny pig before. CBS let him get away clean and that's what it is - I'm just glad to see the back of him.

Won: Power to nullify 3 votes
She wasn't afraid to confront people nor to keep fighting to stay, which was good for us, but didn't help her much. She figured out the twins early but didn't leverage that to her advantage soon or well enough. Her 'game on' fight with Audrey and pantry rant to us were memorable, especially her catch-phrase 'get your life!' She was smart, funny, and volatile. She didn't let us take full advantage of #DaVonneHasADaughter, a hashtag that was too good to be true.

Won: Nothing
He was like a parody of all the former surf boys we've had, with all the worst qualities of asshat hamsters past rolled into one. He verbally beat up on Steve a few times but the primetime version earned him viewer loathing, even if his actoring was lousy. He ranted, streaked, flipped us off, and mostly talked about himself, but he promised to save us all someday through music.

They erroneously said last year that BB16 would have 'the most houseguests ever' but this year they really did, with 17 total after the twins split into separate entities. Now my symmetry for this section is out of whack and I don't know what to put here.

Big Brother 17 FAQ
June 18 was Day 1 move-in. June 24 was CBS premiere, Day 7. Finale will be September 23, Day 98

Feeds are streamed by CBS, and accessible via All Access subscription. Call 888-274-5343 for account help, including cancellation.

CBS shows are Sundays 8pm, Wednesdays 8pm, eviction Thursdays 9pm (Global in Canada).

Big Brother After Dark is on POP (formerly TVGN). It airs Monday, Tuesday 11pm-2am; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday midnight-2am; Thursday 1am-3am. The aired blocks are recorded earlier on the same night.

The CBS app (by CBS Interactive) will play BB air shows and other CBS shows, but not feeds. Use your browser to watch feeds on mobile devices. The same All Access link used to subscribe will lead to the feeds viewing page if you're already signed up.

Liz and Julia had to survive five evictions in order to play separately as individuals, which they did, with Julia officially entering the game on Day 43. They switched places every few days. They had a limited time in Diary to change clothes, adjust their appearance, and exchange info. The non-playing twin was sequestered in a 'house,' possibly the jury house.

BB17 prizes are the same: $500k for the winner and $50k for 2nd place. Stipend for the others is $1,000 per week again, including pre-show hotel and jury sequester. Recruits or those with established pre-season fan bases might get more.

The habitat has 80 HD cameras (up four) and over 100 microphones.

The recorded in-house announcements are the voice of producer Don Wollman.
