Day 46 - Sunday 8/2

Shelli battles on

Shelli carried out her task like a trooper, maintaining her 200 battles per hour pace even in the hot daylight, and really complaining very little (especially for her).. she was given a cabana over the big round lounge, and she took a couple well-earned food and nap breaks.. Clay went back to playing the supportive boyfriend, or whatever, and they gametalked a couple times about how to approach James, and that Vanessa had kind of framed them

Vanessa kept up her polishing Jackie duties, and not gametalking (whew).. James told Meg how Vanessa had earlier asked if he's keeping noms the same, and Liz told James and Meg how Clay had been campaigning to get voted out.. Meg hadn't mentioned that to James yet but piped up "me too" at that point, and that Clay had asked her not to tell anyone (possibly a withheld info oops for Meg)

Shelli completed her 2400 battles with almost four hours to spare.. the others had all gathered in their budget ren faire outfits, ready to count down the final ten and give her a victory parade.. alas, The Powers That Be pulled the rug out from under us, and blocked it

Liz also told them that Clay and Shelli would probably be approaching James to try to get him to backdoor Steve.. James said Shelli's the brains of the Clelli duo, and that he won't likely use his veto.. Liz and Austin reported that last part back to Clay, with "oh gosh" and "it just sucks" faux sympathy

Speaking of oops, I've added a new one to the tally because they were told the feedsters requested this week's photobooth theme, requiring them to "transform from beauty to beast" in four snapshots.. it seems they gave them the results of the next feeds poll before it was posted: the Vote tab is still showing spin the bottle or ghost stories

They saw a skywriting plane that said I LOVE YOU with a heart, and an S, making Austin and Clay joke that Clay had sent it to Shelli, but it was probably just somebody's proposal - congrats and best wishes to whoever they are! I took the evening off for the most part, but the feeds were dramarama thanks to Shelli and Clay realizing their doom, and pointlessly scrambling to try to change it.. more tomorrow

Day 45 - Saturday 8/1

Good old days

They primped and paced, awaiting the pivotal veto comp.. players were drawn and James, Clay, Shelli will compete with Jackie (HG Choice for James), Becky, Vanessa, with Julia hosting.. Vanessa doubled up her poor me loops, roving around and telling whoever would listen what a horrible position she's in and what a difficult day it was for her.. she slipped up griping all this to Shelli at one point, but quickly self-corrected with "it's an easy decision, actually".. it would have been nice if she waited to see who wins veto (or doesn't) before launching another round of Renom Roulette, but that's our Vanessa

Julia saw a camera light moving behind the mirror/window as she was doing her makeup, making her jump and scream.. BB came over their speakers with "enjoy these moments because these are the good old days" - that sent them parannoying, as usually happens when they run those random announcements

Tragic kingdom

James won the veto, in a medieval themed pass-the-prizes comp.. apparently Clay passed the veto on so Shelli could get it and/or he asked them all to vote him out instead of her - I don't even know, I don't follow soap operas well, but afterwards Johnny and Meg were teary, as were Shelli and Vanessa.. spectators got booze at the comp, possibly competitors too - again, I'm faulty with details, but that might have contributed to some of the misty

Other prizes included $5,000 for Becky (which she said was "dirty money" and she wanted to split it with James); a one-week Irish castles trip for Clay; a knight outfit for Jackie for a week; a squire outfit for 24 hours for Vanessa, plus polishing Jackie's armor; and 2,400 battles "castle guard" task for Shelli

The ones who were sippy seemed very sippy, leading to raunchy joking around upstairs.. it may also have been a factor in a handsy convo between Clay and Meg, with him begging her to promise to vote him out, and she saying she can't say yet.. Shelli didn't witness this exchange (I wasn't even aware Clay and Meg knew each other's names, to be honest)

Tasks got underway a few hours later: Jackie's knight outfit was extremely awkward looking, but Vanessa enjoyed her polishing limelight, using bad accents to tell stories about Jacqueline the Great.. Shelli had to do 2,400 battles in 24 hours: each round consisted of using her sword to hit a punching bag, a target-behind-a-target, and knock down a bar.. after every 100 battles, she had to go into the living room to ring a bell - otherwise she had to stay in the backyard until finished.. if she fails, she can't compete in next week's veto comp.. she began cheery and chirpy, also enjoying her limelight, but that probably won't last

Update: Shelli actually did keep up her good mood for the most part, and kept a solid pace of 200 per hour.. at every 100 when she had to ring her bell through the house, several of the others formed a parade.. it was kind of like a lunatics' budget renaissance faire, but it was good to see them giving her support.. Steve said he'd stay out there with her for the duration, because he remembered how much the hamster support meant for Brittany kicking her 2,400 goals.. Shelli made halfway point around 4.20am, and took her second break.. I need one too, so I might miss the finale if she pushes through

I could be way off base here, especially because I don't/can't listen to Clay and Shelli pillowtalk, but between her working at this soon-to-be-grueling but basically pointless task, and his hard campaigning to vote him out, plus his sudden touchy-feely flirting with Meg, and he didn't spend Shelli's break at #600 with her, I have to wonder if they hatched a plot between them to make them look not so coupled, in an effort to hope James uses his veto and puts up somebody else (Steve).. hey, the whole "I'll give up my shot at $500k for love" gambit worked for Austin - maybe they're trying to duplicate and enhance that.. just a thought

Spin the bottle

Several had gone to bed, including Jackie with squire Vanessa on the floor beside her, when the card came out about their spin the bottle task, with the erroneous (for most) message that feedsters wanted it.. most of them didn't want to do it either, saying they'd prefer it with alcohol (so would we! and without the bottle) but they roused those who had gone to bed, and all but Shelli settled in a circle around an empty soda bottle to do the task

Shelli kept up her sword rounds but was bottle-pointable, and they agreed cheek kisses would be okay if either the kisser or kissee preferred - Flashback 8/2 1.45am

Some kisses were cute, some were awkward, and some were awful but the two significant First Kisses were caught on tape, so The Powers That Be were probably happy and they didn't require another round

The kiss pairs were Jackie & Johnny, James & Steve, Becky & Jackie, Meg & Steve, Julia & Jackie, Johnny & Jackie, Steve & Jackie, Austin & Liz, Clay & Shelli, Liz & Jackie, James & Jackie, and that was that

Confessions of a BB feed watcher by me! for Reality Blurred

Ratings - Payback edition

Ratings are Friday's for now, based on entertainment value.. a special edition is in the works

So happy they eliminated BOB and we're back to the dirty tricks and backstabbing we love. I am combining Julie's premiere fibs into one goof on the tally because I'm feeling charitable, and because we didn't need a twist a week or BOB in the first place. After all the speculation in there and out here about where they'd put Julia's pic on the photo wall, it was rude but kind of hilarious that they gave her Jace's spot.

Won: Outback dinner (guest)
He didn't do well on the Wall but I don't think anyone expected him to. Those big guys never do, and I think he's the biggest we've ever had. He's not as smooth with his Liz moves as he was before Julia came along, and that can't be a bad thing. Maybe the torches 'n pitchforks crowd will ease up a little.

Won: $5,000; Outback dinner (guest)
I had a lot more fun with her when she was playing the ditzy extra than this new Becky who fancies herself a gamer of the first degree. Like Clay, she learned about BB when she was recruited for it and like Clay, she thinks she knows everything there is to know about it after marathoning a few seasons. It doesn't work quite that well but hey, she's still here so more power to her.

Won: Ireland trip; Outback dinner (guest)
NOMINATED
Even his hissy fits fail to amuse lately - being a petulant child about his mic, telling BB to 'shut up' and slamming doors just isn't the fun kind of hissy fit. I guess I should give him a little credit for letting Shelli continually talk about him inevitably getting the boot instead of her, but maybe he'll work his way up to rebelling or even questioning that assumption one day.

1 week knight suit; 24 hours Vanessa polishing
I know a lot of people are singing her praises, and she has been instrumental as a double agent (aka the dreaded floater word) more than once, but I just don't get much entertainment value from her. Maybe it's me.

Won: Outback dinner
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD - HOLDS VETO
Super big ups for doing so well on the Wall, for agreeing to Shelli's deal to end it, and then going back on the deal to put her and her plaything on the block. On top of all that, he handled their lengthy harangue like a champ, and he fended off Vanessa just as well every time she cornered him.

Won: 1 week Wackstreet
He was the forgotten third finisher on the Wall, and he deserves credit for that. He's been getting tagged as a rat out here on Friday because he dared to talk game and tattle about Vanessa to Shelli.. who cares? He's been tagged a floater coaster up to now by his detractors. I figure those folks are just jealous of his huge popularity. There aren't many hamsters who trend on Twitter without being evicted or knocking someone out, but he keeps doing it, and now he's gotten the first mention of the season on 'The Soup' as well.

Won: ½ week Wackstreet
Kudos to her - to both of them really - for surviving long enough to be separated. It was fun seeing Julia get to be herself finally, sharing her own stories and experiences, and comparing notes with everyone about which twin was there for what.

Won: ½ week Wackstreet, Outback dinner
She did well on the Wall, missing the finish by only 15 minutes or so. I love having them both in there: unlike everyone else's convo pairings, we know they'll be truthful when alone with each other.

Won: Gronk party cruise
She did okay on the Wall, but of course she's been leaning all season so she was in great shape for it.

Won: 2,400 battles
NOMINATED
Legit ups for her performance on the Wall, with easy point 'n laugh ups for her ridiculous entitlement issues and resentment at being nominated, not to mention thinking it was all a calculated personal attack to rip her away from her boo.

He threw himself off the Wall like a non-champ, and licked his wrapped lolly the next day like a weirdo. They all keep bad-mouthing him but he's not going anywhere yet - he's a keeper! I especially love how he keeps feeding them false info, such as telling Shelli and Clay that he 'couldn't remember' anyone going back on an endurance drop deal before (ha!)

Won: Outback dinner; 24 hours polishing Jackie
Aww she had a bad day because her minons were nominated, partly mostly because of her manipulating them and then lying about it to them and everyone else. Boo freaking hoo. She's starting to act like Audrey, having issues whenever she's safe, but she's not a bit entertaining about it like Audrey was.

Won: 1 week Wackstreet
Another superfan who found out it's easier to play BB from home, he fell into Vanessa's disastrous Renom Roulette wheel and went out earlier than many hoped. He got mouthy about many of them and popped some good funnies, but he laid around most of the time until it was too late. He gave us some of the best reaction faces of all time, especially the night they played squicky truth or dare - he even had a dedicated cam for much of it. He mentioned this site often, usually saying it's 'hard to navigate' so he'll probably never see this.

Won: Nothing
She was erratic and unpredictable, and the random ways she kept them stirred up made for some of the best feeds in ages. And as a bonus, she featured in all the fights, many because the others didn't believe her telling truths. They did buy most of the fibs, and without 'empirical evidence,' but they fell for her wacky gameplay more than twice. She marooned herself in a bed and a dental chair, with some laughs in between, and she got the 2nd ever penalty vote. I enjoyed watching her, and will miss her.

Won: Nothing
I haven't given many empty wheels before their time, and I don't think any of those got them as early as he did. But we've never had such a misogynistic, inappropriate, and unfunny pig before. CBS let him get away clean and that's what it is - I'm just glad to see the back of him.

Won: Power to nullify 3 votes
She wasn't afraid to confront people nor to keep fighting to stay, which was good for us, but didn't help her much. She figured out the twins early but didn't leverage that to her advantage soon or well enough. Her 'game on' fight with Audrey and pantry rant to us were memorable, especially her catch-phrase 'get your life!' She was smart, funny, and volatile. She didn't let us take full advantage of #DaVonneHasADaughter, a hashtag that was too good to be true.

Won: Nothing
He was like a parody of all the former surf boys we've had, with all the worst qualities of asshat hamsters past rolled into one. He verbally beat up on Steve a few times but the primetime version earned him viewer loathing, even if his actoring was lousy. He ranted, streaked, flipped us off, and mostly talked about himself, but he promised to save us all someday through music.

They erroneously said last year that BB16 would have 'the most houseguests ever' but this year they really did, with 17 total after the twins split into separate entities. Now my symmetry for this section is out of whack and I don't know what to put here.

Big Brother 17 FAQ
June 18 was Day 1 move-in. June 24 was CBS premiere, Day 7. Finale will be September 23, Day 98

Feeds are streamed by CBS, and accessible via All Access subscription. Call 888-274-5343 for account help, including cancellation.

CBS shows are Sundays 8pm, Wednesdays 8pm, eviction Thursdays 9pm (Global in Canada).

Big Brother After Dark is on POP (formerly TVGN). It airs Monday, Tuesday 11pm-2am; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday midnight-2am; Thursday 1am-3am. The aired blocks are recorded earlier on the same night.

The CBS app (by CBS Interactive) will play BB air shows and other CBS shows, but not feeds. Use your browser to watch feeds on mobile devices. The same All Access link used to subscribe will lead to the feeds viewing page if you're already signed up.

Liz and Julia had to survive five evictions in order to play separately as individuals, which they did, with Julia officially entering the game on Day 43. They switched places every few days. They had a limited time in Diary to change clothes, adjust their appearance, and exchange info. The non-playing twin was sequestered in a 'house,' possibly the jury house.

BB17 prizes are the same: $500k for the winner and $50k for 2nd place. Stipend for the others is $1,000 per week again, including pre-show hotel and jury sequester. Recruits or those with established pre-season fan bases might get more.

The habitat has 80 HD cameras (up four) and over 100 microphones.

The recorded in-house announcements are the voice of producer Don Wollman.
