Day 88 - Sunday 9/13

Scamper Squad splinters

Johnny used his veto on himself obviously, and Vanessa put up Austin in his place.. Liz and Johnny are the only votes, with Vanessa as tiebreaker if needed.. eviction will be taped Monday to air Tuesday, and we may or may not get spoiler news.. I'll post the spoiler if I get it from a reliable source, but rumors will abound

After their veto meeting, Austin said his hip was out and he had Liz tug on it.. his wrestling injuries are well documented, and he said pre-season he might play them up to appear weak, but he also said he wouldn't showmance, so.. Vanessa's told Johnny and Liz (who told Austin) that she wants Steve out, but she's been known to fib here and there *cough* and she's been working closely with both Austin and Steve all season, with longstanding Final Two deals with each, so I'm not going to predict what she'll do.. Sunday night she told Johnny she wants to "make a big move" and blindside-evict Austin - we'll see if Johnny plays into that on/for her behalf or goes his own way

They got their cupcakes and did their rabbit ears photobooth assignment, both results of the latest feeds polls.. I still say little Charlie Moonves came up with the vote options this year - he'd be almost six years old now

Meanwhile, the hot mess that is Celebrity Big Brother continues to roll.. catch up archive episodes at the official site - use Hide My Ass to watch from outside the UK.. see below for more info

Programming note: feeds will go dark around 9am Monday for the eviction show taping and will stay off until Tuesday 9pm.. Wednesday's show will be live again with the 4th place eviction, and Part 1 of the final HOH comp should take place as it goes off the air

Day 87 - Saturday 9/12

Skittling

We had another long feeds block for the veto comp, which Johnny won.. I haven't heard much about it except it involved balance beam running plus a puzzle, and it was exhausting.. some or all of them will get to watch an episode of "Life in Pieces" at some point

They all retired to their beds, but Vanessa first ran a whole bunch of scenarios to herself with M&Ms and Skittles, and the green hat was back.. I figured she was counting jury votes depending on the various combos of things that could still happen, but when Steve came up later and she interrogated him about what would happen if this one's against that one at each remaining stage of the game, I figured maybe she was making a diagram of what to ask him next depending on his answer - I'm only half joking

After much Q&A, including asking Steve to swear on "something important" that he'd take her to Final Three over Johnny if he has that call (Steve swore on his mom he would), Steve asked about the Skittles.. she told him not to look at them and when she went to get a piece of paper to cover them, Steve accidentally(?) kicked the table and knocked them askew.. oops

Liz, Austin, Johnny each had a chat with Vanessa after that.. Liz reminded Vanessa she'd volunteered to go up as renom if necessary, but Vanessa said she didn't really want to do that, with a recurring line that Liz was already on the block last week (I know, facepalm).. Austin also volunteered and Vanessa said if it's him, they'd evict Steve, and she wondered if she should warn him rather than blindside

Johnny had the longest meeting, with Vanessa occasionally stuttering and tip-toeing around her obvious "I can't read this guy" problem, and she told him since they're both in Final Four, she'd like to work with him.. they shook hands on wanting to be in Final Three together (her suggestion), and they ended with Austin to go up and Steve to go out.. by the way, just before this meeting, Steve asked Johnny if he had his vote and he said yep

All this is in pencil of course, and all subject to the usual truth versus lie BB litmus test(s).. they finally told Johnny the name of the Scamper Squad alliance, and all five sat down to dinner together, and they all turned in early after a bit of scattered chit-chat

Programming note I am guessing veto meeting will be Sunday, and that feeds will go dark around 3pm Monday until after Tuesday's show airs.. Wednesday's show will be live again with the 4th place eviction, and Part 1 of the final HOH comp should take place as it goes off the air

Day 86 - Friday 9/11

Tick tock

Feeds were down all day.. they told us they'd be back at 11.30pm but they didn't come back until 1.30am, so that's another item for the goofs tally.. Frankie showed up and Liz and Vanessa went off to Ariana's show with him.. they had to wear disguises, which included a red wig and temp tattoo for Liz, which Austin helped remove

They had BB babysitters with them who wouldn't let them have much to drink, but Liz was happy to have met Don Wollman, executive producer and man behind the voice who always makes her jump when he calls her name, and made her and Julia go off into giggles about "clip your microphone to your shrrrrrt".. she also said someone recognized and shouted out to Vanessa, and she and Austin assumed that was BB recognition - it may have been, or not

They did noms when they got back, and Vanessa put up Steve and Johnny, as planned.. Steve reported to Vanessa that Johnny told him he knows he's the target, and Johnny told Austin and Liz he'd consider throwing the veto to them if they'd break their Vanessa deal.. he also told them that he'd trashed them last week

When Austin and Liz reported this to Vanessa, she seemed surprised but delighted, and suggested they go along with it so Johnny would indeed throw the veto.. personally, I think this is more Dr Will'ing by Johnny and I'll be surprised if Vanessa doesn't think so too, especially since she went there right away with Johnny's "I hate you all"

Day 85 - Thursday 9/10

Twistus interruptus

Liz and Julia fine-tuned and rehearsed their speeches some more in the last hours before they were separated again.. this may be a minority opinion but I enjoyed having them both in there, and they made me think a season of all twins or close sibling pairs would be a fun casting twist, if they must do casting twists.. elsewhere, Vanessa gave Johnny a major haircut, and the rest of them did their usual primping and whatnot

Programming notes: Feeds will be down Friday 9.45am until 11.30pm - my guess is they'll do noms and veto comp without us, but we'll find out what happened Friday night when they come back.. also see Upcoming Events to your left for the remaining show schedule.. Tuesday's eviction will be taped Monday, so chances are good that feeds will go off again sometime Monday afternoon until after Tuesday's show airs

Taste the rainbow

Julie dressed "business casual" again and said "AusTwins" out loud, we saw Meg and James arrive at the jury house cocktail party, and the Final Six each got quick video messages from home.. Julia walked the plank as expected, and Johnny delivered another memorable vote and farewell message

The HOH comp was a colorful one, colorfully titled Under the Rainbow, and it was the eggs and chicken wire one.. they had to travel 10 golden eggs through chicken wire over an arch and drop them into little caddies.. there was also a "Luxury" caddy, for a "once in a lifetime" trip somewhere - presumably within the next few days, possibly with a plus-one, and probably with some sort of cross-promo tie-in.. Irish music played and Steve wore a leprechaun suit

Austin shot out ahead but dropped a couple eggs, and Vanessa took the lead.. it was a hard comp between the finger work, the reaching overhead, and the crouching down at either end, plus it was still 90° out there according to my weather widget, and humid.. Liz dropped a few and fell behind, so she took the "Luxury" aka mystery trip since Julie had decreed someone had to.. Austin and Johnny were pretty close to each other and just behind Vanessa, with Johnny pulling ahead of Austin at the end, but Vanessa won another HOH by plopping her tenth egg first

Later Vanessa told Austin and/or Liz that her skill and experience twiddling casino chips helped her with this comp, and that she'd had a rush of paranoia and adrenalin before the comp because of Johnny's home message mentioning "rock stars".. several hamsters past have won four HOHs in a season and now she's in that club too.. she'll need one more if she wants to set a new record - see Attwx.com for all kinds of nifty info like that, plus trivia, pets and visitors each season, all the comps, Julie through the years, and a whole lot more

Vanessa made rounds afterwards asking several of them convoluted questions about who they thought this one or that one would put up if they'd won, and then she talked with Austin for ages.. she got another new hat, in yellow this time, and a letter from her sister, and then she talked with Austin some more

She ended up with another three-part demand system to keep Austin and Liz off the block, to wit: they can't use veto if they win it, they have to vote to evict Johnny if it's Johnny versus Steve, and they have to throw Part 1 of the final HOH to her if Johnny's still there.. both agreed and in addition, Liz volunteered herself to go up as renom if needed - I know, it's mind-boggling.. Liz was also asked to save Vanessa if she wins the Final Four veto, but I lost track and don't know if Austin had that stipulation or not

When Vanessa finally presented the plan to put up Johnny and Steve to Steve, he threw a lot of valid arguments back at her, politely of course, including the fact that Austin would take Liz to finals instead of Vanessa if it comes to that, because love.. that shut her down for a few minutes but she recovered, and guaranteed Steve wouldn't be evicted if it stays him versus Johnny

When Johnny finally showed up at nearly 3am to hear Vanessa's Pair versus Pair theory, he had no choice but to go along with it, and to point out that he knows there's a five-person alliance without him, and that he hates them all (in game) because they all evicted him - that got Vanessa's attention because, as she later told Steve, it was very Dr Will but they don't think Johnny knows about Dr Will (he does).. Johnny's no dummy and he surely knows he's the target - you can bet he'll play hard for veto

She did the twin switching pretty well, considering they aren't as identical as their DNA. Some called them mean girls but I loved the candid banter between them, as well as Julia's funny interactions with Steve and James in particular. I couldn't get enough of her 'shrrrrt' and 'for surrrre' gags, despite how silly and repetitive they were. Julia's facial expressions were priceless, especially her frequent shockface, and she was the best target for James to scare since she never failed to scream and she usually fell over. She wasn't crazy about her sister's showmance, and while Liz might face a firestorm when she gets out, Julia should be just fine.

Won: Outback dinner
He had the first overlong HOH and his easy personality plus everyone gaming their brains out set him up in a friendly spot with everyone. He was hated by many when he buddied up with Jeff, but James kept it humorous even then. After that, James amped up his pranks, scaring, and candy pelting. He hung out with the less lucky Goblins and they were usually fun to watch, but they spent too much time having fun while the others gamed around them. He'll be remembered for his tinfoil headphones and Swiffer, his quick and unique wit, many Jamesisms and Lines of the Day, making Liz's kitty hat his own, and his devotion to his little girl Baleigh.

Won: Gronk party cruise
She's one of the best laugh-at-herselfers we've ever had, and while she got emotional losing comps and losing her friends, she was mostly upbeat the rest of the time. She was a very good sport about James and Jeff's sexual jokes, as well as with the rest of them poking about her inability to win comps. But she won a cruise in a season without many prizes (thus far), and I think it's safe to say she'll remain friends with all or most of them. She turned laying around into an art form, inspiring me to start a #LeaningMeg hashtag game that became entirely too easy, and her enthusiasm for their non-game games made them fun, as did her cereal scorekeeping system.

Won: $10,000; Never Not pass; Outback dinner (guest)
She came in with that incredible train/tram story and a good attitude about it, and she called herself 'Basic Becky' which fit well when she talked about recipes, dogs, and her daily tasks and procedures at work. But she proved to be a comp beast and she lived up to her billing as Black Friday Boss when she openly targeted Vanessa. Unfortunately for her, everyone turned tail on that plan and Becky was demoted to the after-Christmas returns desk. She should have gone on a dating show but she gave us some fun with Becky Updates - even Olive Garden got in on that. She can laugh at herself and those ones are always appreciated.

Won: 1 week 6 days knight; 24 hours polishing by Vanessa
She came in as a stuntcast cross-promo opp with Jeff and she was easily the better of that duo, even if she was barely seen for weeks. She had a better grasp of this show and game than he did, and she talked some big talk but didn't get a chance for us to see if she'd put it in action or not. She did her costume week with a good attitude, and she was a good-natured participant in most of their non-game activities. She gave us some behind-the-scenes 'Amazing Race' info which was fun and different. Like Victoria last year, she doesn't need all that fake hair but at least hers stayed in pretty good shape most of the time.

Won: 2,400 battles
She's the type who had Star of the Season potential but she didn't quite make the cut. She was volatile, emotional, controlling, and prone to hissy fits, and she took most things personally. But she was also an unexpected comp beast, especially on the endurance wall, and she wasn't afraid to make 'big moves' even if Vanessa had a heavy hand in most of them. She did her 2,400 battles largely (and surprisingly) without complaint, and she gained some hard-earned respect with that. Her thing with Clay was odd and uncomfortable to watch, and she easily won Death Race 2015 with her curious and unflattering taped-in extensions.

Won: Ireland trip; Outback dinner (guest)
He started badly, calling himself a 'superfan' after being recruited at a basketball game and marathoning a few seasons. He said BB is about making new friends and memories, and he had a problem with lies and backstabs except when he was doing it. He spent most of his time stapled to Shelli and they got a lot of mother/son jokes, but I saw them more as creepy Lannisters, especially when she went on about how like her brother he is. He provided loads of unintentional comedy, weird mouth things and mumbling translations, he peed in HOH shower, and he got out just in time.

Won: 1 week Wackstreet
Another superfan who found out it's easier to play BB from home, he fell into Vanessa's disastrous Renom Roulette wheel and went out earlier than many hoped. He got mouthy about many of them and popped some good funnies, but he laid around most of the time until it was too late. He gave us some of the best reaction faces of all time, especially the night they played squicky truth or dare - he even had a dedicated cam for much of it. He mentioned this site often, usually saying it's 'hard to navigate' so he'll probably never see this.

Won: Nothing
She was erratic and unpredictable, and the random ways she kept them stirred up made for some of the best feeds in ages. And as a bonus, she featured in all the fights, many because the others didn't believe her telling truths. They did buy most of the fibs, and without 'empirical evidence,' but they fell for her wacky gameplay more than twice. She marooned herself in a bed and a dental chair, with some laughs in between, and she got the 2nd ever penalty vote. I enjoyed watching her, and will miss her.

Won: Nothing
I haven't given many empty wheels before their time, and I don't think any of those got them as early as he did. But we've never had such a misogynistic, inappropriate, and unfunny pig before. CBS let him get away clean and that's what it is - I'm just glad to see the back of him.

Won: Power to nullify 3 votes
She wasn't afraid to confront people nor to keep fighting to stay, which was good for us, but didn't help her much. She figured out the twins early but didn't leverage that to her advantage soon or well enough. Her 'game on' fight with Audrey and pantry rant to us were memorable, especially her catch-phrase 'get your life!' She was smart, funny, and volatile. She didn't let us take full advantage of #DaVonneHasADaughter, a hashtag that was too good to be true.

Won: Nothing
He was like a parody of all the former surf boys we've had, with all the worst qualities of asshat hamsters past rolled into one. He verbally beat up on Steve a few times but the primetime version earned him viewer loathing, even if his actoring was lousy. He ranted, streaked, flipped us off, and mostly talked about himself, but he promised to save us all someday through music.

They erroneously said last year that BB16 would have 'the most houseguests ever' but this year they really did, with 17 total after the twins split into separate entities. Now my symmetry for this section is out of whack and I don't know what to put here.

Big Brother 17 FAQ
June 18 was Day 1 move-in. June 24 was CBS premiere, Day 7. Finale will be September 23, Day 98

Feeds are streamed by CBS, and accessible via All Access subscription. Call 888-274-5343 for account help, including cancellation.

CBS shows are Sundays 8pm, Wednesdays 8pm, eviction Thursdays 9pm (Global in Canada).

Big Brother After Dark is on POP (formerly TVGN). It airs Monday, Tuesday 11pm-2am; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday midnight-2am; Thursday 1am-3am. The aired blocks are recorded earlier on the same night.

The CBS app (by CBS Interactive) will play BB air shows and other CBS shows, but not feeds. Use your browser to watch feeds on mobile devices. The same All Access link used to subscribe will lead to the feeds viewing page if you're already signed up.

Liz and Julia had to survive five evictions in order to play separately as individuals, which they did, with Julia officially entering the game on Day 43. They switched places every few days. They had a limited time in Diary to change clothes, adjust their appearance, and exchange info. The non-playing twin was sequestered in a 'house,' possibly the jury house.

BB17 prizes are the same: $500k for the winner and $50k for 2nd place. Stipend for the others is $1,000 per week again, including pre-show hotel and jury sequester. Recruits or those with established pre-season fan bases might get more.

The habitat has 80 HD cameras (up four) and over 100 microphones.

The recorded in-house announcements are the voice of producer Don Wollman.

"Position the habitat of your hamster somewhere light and airy, away from drafts, heaters, direct sunlight
and other pets. Never put it on or near a television, radio or hi-fi, or a fridge."
