YAY we finally got the celeb version we've all wanted and wondered about for years! Sure, it's a transparent ploy to counteract the Olympics on NBC and we're using the 'celebrity' term loosely, but so does BB UK and they're now wrapping up their 21st celeb season. Nobody expected A Listers anyway - these are the usual types that do reality shows, and in fact most of them have done other celebreality shows. A short season is fine with me, what with Canada and BB20 both looming in the near future, and I think the accelerated schedule of two cycles per week will build the angst and drama, while eliminating the deadly dull Sunday-Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday downtime we're used to. We will have more feeds blocks as a result of more comps per week, but here's hoping they're kept as short as possible. My only real complaint right now is the same as it is every season (except OTT): I hate that we're missing the oh-so-important first week of feeds! Entire seasons usually revolve around it, not to mention the fun and often interesting get-to-know-you convos. But that's balanced out by kudos for an older cast, which is always more interesting than a crop of 22-year-olds with no life experience to talk about or use to their advantage game-wise.
Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Ariadna Gutiérrez 24 - single Model - former Miss Colombia Miami, FL (originally Barranquilla, Colombia) She says she'll go by Ari (AH-ree) so don't worry about misspelling her name. She was a lot funnier and more gregarious in her Ika sit-down than I expected, and I think she'll be great fun on feeds. I think we'll all get tired of her saying 'I mean' real fast, but at least it's a change from 'you know' or the dreaded 'like'. She hates liars and betrayal so I don't think she'll do well game-wise, but she may do well enough with charm and comps to stick for awhile. I don't know how the timing of her Miss Colombia/Miss Universe debacle coincides with Trump selling Miss Universe, but she and Omarosa will have at least some ties to POTUS in common, along with the others who've done 'Celebrity Apprentice' - things we never expected on Big Brother.	Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Brandi Glanville 45 - single, 2 children Reality TV personality Los Angeles, CA (originally Sacramento, CA) If you know anything about her, you know she's got no filters whatsoever. If you don't know her, that's all you really need to know, plus the fact that she tends to get into a lot of confrontations. She and Omarosa in the same confined space is guaranteed drama, whether they dislike each other or become besties and take on everyone else one by one. So pop that corn, sit back and enjoy.
Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Chuck Liddell 48 - married, 2 children Former UFC and MMA champ Calabasas, CA (originally Santa Barbara, CA) I don't follow MMA so I'm going in cold, but I've heard he can be a hothead, or has been at times. He seemed funny and generally likable in his interview, and that can make for good watching, but he's fresh to the game of BB. If we're lucky he'll try some elaborate Master Maneuver early on that all the others will see through, and we might end up with another round of Devin or Jozea follies to enjoy. He'll likely be in the Paris/Temptation Den gym a lot and if the new machines and weights are noisy, that might upset whoever's next door in HOH.	Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  James Maslow 27 - single Actor/musician Venice, CA (originally San Diego, CA) He seemed nervous and unsure how to proceed in his interviews, and he definitely doesn't know what he's getting into with this game. Neither do some of his fans, a few of whom are already being problematic - just when we thought we'd dodged that particular bullet with this cast. He seems to be here mainly to promote himself but hopefully he'll relax a bit and we'll find out what he's about when feeds start. But as of now, I got nothing, except that he looks off to the side a lot - some think that's a sign of lying.
Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Keshia Knight Pulliam 38 - single, 1 child Actress and entrepreneur Atlanta, GA (originally Newark, NJ) She seems as sweet and genuine as you'd expect a grown-up Rudy Huxtable to be, and she's done quite a lot of reality TV of various types before this. But she's extremely new to this particular game, and I don't think she's got a clue how hardore and nasty it can get. Maybe it won't get that bad in this abbreviated season but I'm worried for her, as she may be in way, way over her head. Hopefully she watched whatever season they gave them in sequester to the end so she'll be a bit more prepared. She'll likely be nice for them to be around and pleasant on feeds, and she'll probably do a lot of the food prep. Unfortunately for her, her line of spices and seasonings doesn't seem to be available on Amazon - bad timing there.	Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Marissa Jaret Winokur 44 - married, 1 child Broadway actress Toluca Lake, CA (originally Bedford, NY) All indications are that she's going to be the life of the party and should bring a lot of laughs to them and us. She's a long-time and loyal viewer but I haven't heard anything about whether she's seen feeds, After Dark, or any of us. She does know Frankie from Broadway but if he told her anything, it may have been more about the positive TV/media side than we of the dark underbelly, since he didn't do so well with us. Being a CBS-only hasn't proven to make or break anyone's game though, as knowing how to work the love/hate fundamentals is what counts in the end. Perhaps best of all, Marissa's got gobs and gobs of wigs and stunt hair, and she's bound to be the breakout star of #Deathrace2018.
Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Mark McGrath 49 - married, 2 children Pop singer, TV personality Studio City, CA (originally Newport Beach, CA) I think he's one to watch as far as being a serious contender here, since he's pleasant and likable as well as being smarter than expected. He's performed in front of huge crowds with Sugar Ray and has hosted a number of TV shows, so he isn't likely to let much rattle him, he's done 'Wife Swap' so he's okay with airing personal laundry, and he won 'Rock & Roll Jeopardy' three times - it probably isn't as hard as regular daily Jeopardy, but it's not Go Fish either. Add all that to the fact that he's witty, funny, and seems pretty genuine and easy-going, and I think he'll definitely be one to watch, both feeds-wise and game-wise.	Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Metta World Peace (formerly Ron Artest) 38 - married, 4 children Former NBA star, current coach Los Angeles, CA (originally Queens, NY) He seems like he'll be very funny in there and that's always a good thing. Hamster comedians are often my favorites and we don't get enough of them. He's also clueless about the game of BB, and that often makes for a lot of unintentional comedy as well: he said he plans to tell people he wants to evict them, and he expects they can all get along after he does so. He seems like he'll be well-liked by his roomies (at least until his eviction announcements) so maybe he'll go far based on that, as many other newbies have before him. His strong athletic background and stamina should work well for him in physical comps, though his height could be a disadvantage in some of them. Regardless, I think he's a definite keeper for Team Fun Feeds.
Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Omarosa Manigault Newman 43 - married Reality TV personality, former White House aide Jacksonville, FL (originally Youngstown, OH) Julie confirmed she was a last minute addition but she was announced before press day interviews happened, so I can only guess she's missing from those due to a contract rider? Since she didn't show up for Ika, where I capped the rest of their pics, I'm using one from when we first met her, the debut Apprentice season way back in 2004. I didn't see her other two seasons of that (and I don't do politics here), but on that first Apprentice season she was often arrogant, abrupt, and obnoxious - all good things for fans of feeds drama. Many are wondering if she'll dish some White House gossip but she's promised a juicy tell-all book and she's smart enough to pimp that rather than let something slip. Then again, she might not be aware that we're always watching and feedsters catch everything, especially when it's controversial.	Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Ross Mathews 38 - in a relationship TV personality and host Los Angeles & Palm Springs, CA (originally Mt Vernon, WA) Like Shannon, he's a long-time Hamsterwatcher (and even gave me special hello in his sit-down with Brian Porreca for THR!) so I'd love it if the two of them hook up game-wise, and I'll hate it if they work against each other. His background includes everything from covering Olympics for Jay Leno to interviewing all the A Listers on various red carpets to judging RuPaul's Drag Racers, but more importantly for our purposes, he's done BB video blogs in the past AND he did the official post-eviction talk show for a couple seasons. He definitely knows what he's getting into and while 'superfans' don't always do well despite their knowledge, he's got an easy way with people and I don't think most will see him as a threat. He said he plans to use that, while playing a cutthroat game. I think he'll be fun feeds as well, with his self-deprecating humor and quick wit.
Won: Nothing yet HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0  Shannon Elizabeth 44 - in a relationship Actress and animal rights activist Cape Town, South Africa (originally Houston, TX) She's a long-time Hamsterwatcher and savvy BB fan, and she's been a panelist on Evel Dick's 'Dick at Night'. Top that off with having been a successful pro poker player and you've got the makings for a very serious game threat. She's also extremely nice, sweet, and friendly, and I think they'll all like being around her. Feeds-wise I think she'll be fun and talkative, and she should have some good stories about her animal work, her movies and TV past, and her current life in South Africa. Being a vegan in there with a couple jocks and who knows what other types of eaters could bring some dinner dramas if we're lucky, though I think she'll be smart enough to lay low during any confrontations.
