Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 85 - Wednesday - Finale - October 28, 2020

They were woken around 9am to tell us goodbye. Enzo stayed in bed, having been up late stressing and nervousing. Cody said he wants us to do Twitter polls for how much we'll miss each of them. He apologized to us for always snorting his snot, for shouting, for the dumb voices, and for chewing. He knows how we react to this stuff, but didn't care until this morning. Nicole also apologized for chewing, and for pulling at her wedgies. She also said she loves us. I don't know if she'll feel the same after learning she's lost some sponsors. Enzo finally got up and apologized for being vulgar, for the bad accents, and that BB12 Enzo came out a bit at the end after hiding him most of the season. And then at 10am the BB22 feeds came to and end, and they were gone.

Finale kicked off with Part 2 - after the recaps, of course. It was called Camera Hogs, and Cody and Enzo had to (separately) answer season trivia by placing hamster cutouts into "postcards," then cross a balance beam to swing hanging piggies out of the way so none would appear in the final shots. It was a fun comp to watch. Times were 4:49 for Cody, and 37:38 for Enzo. They showed some of Enzo's anger/disappointment meltdown afterwards, which was withheld from feeds like so many key moments this year, though we heard about it.

Next was the jury roundtable, which did not have a leader/thinking coach/moderator this time, almost surely due to virus protocols. And/or because Dr Will was busy doing Thriller dances. Christmas joined them and they did their rehashing. I zoned out and my eyes glazed over for most of that because I am season rehashed to death. My apologies. Catch the replay when they post the episode in All Access if you want the details.

Then came Part 3, which was titled Vinyl Exam: Nicole versus Cody and a series of eight music-themed videos about each juror. Again it was season trivia rather than the crapshoot they all expected, or some version of which juror said what that I kind of expected. They had to answer which one of three statements about each juror's season was false, and they were very detailed. Nicole missed the first one (about Ian), and both got all the rest correct, meaning Cody won the final HOH by one.

Nicole and Enzo's keep-me speeches both emphasized that they were with Cody from the start, making it awkward for all, and there were tears from all three. Cody evicted Nicole, and that meant Enzo didn't snap on whoever cut him as he'd promised, and his ex didn't have to turn the kids away from the TV as he'd requested, should that come to pass. Nicole was clearly shocked and had a difficult time with her exit interview at first, but she pulled herself together.

Jurors were not onstage with Julie but somewhere "in the Big Brother bubble" per her. They asked their questions, alternating between Cody and Enzo. I paraphrased the questions and answers in a Twitter thread but again, check the archive episode for more detail. Nothing was extra noteworthy, although Nicole did say she couldn't look at Cody to ask why Enzo and not her. He said he went back and forth a very lot, and I believe that he did, although he wasn't nearly as vocal with his thoughts this past week as Nicole and Enzo each were. Both gave pretty good responses but Cody was more articulate and thorough than Enzo.

The same goes for their finalist speeches. Both made good points but again, Cody's speech was more articulate and better planned than Enzo's. The keywheel made its annual appearance and the jurors placed their keys in their slots.

Pre-jurors appeared via Zoom meeting, and they actually had a nice little back and forth with Julie, something that often doesn't happen on finale and it was a good use of some of that extra half hour, in my opinion. That is until Julie asked Kaysar why he wasn't able to rally the outliers to go against the aligned power players, and that brought back all the pain of what this season could have been but wasn't. Oh well.

Cody won the season on a unanimous 9-0 vote, the final two exited the habitat to greet the jurors, and the confetti flew. Da'Vonne won the viewer favorite award, and she was clearly thrilled, as she should be.

A couple final notes: neither Cody nor Enzo were nominated all season, a pretty impressive feat for one let alone both finalists. Cody was the first OTEV winner to win the season, so that curse is ended. And Da'Vonne was the first African-American to win the viewer favorite prize. Great going and congrats to all of them! And thanks as always to each of the 16 hamsters for putting themselves out there for our amusement once again, especially since they all knew already how crazy this fanbase is. There wasn't much strategy and there wasn't much entertainment so fans of both angles of BB lost big, but we did get a season when all odds were against it happening at all due to COVID-19.

And as always, thank you! for continuing to visit the site and for getting your feeds here, and especially to those of you who send me goofs, pinkies, comedy, kind words, and donations! We've got another one under our BB belts :) And a PS: I'll be adding more face masks to my Etsy site in the coming days and weeks, and some holiday lap quilts too!

Final reminder, if you missed what came before, check my previous episode, always linked up top or from my season index, and get the feeds to catch anything you missed with Flashback!

Credit where due: they planned this season under lockdown conditions and they pulled it off with who knows how many virus protocols and related adaptations they had to make. I missed all the great shots and closeups from camera operators in the walls but I know that was due to having fewer personnel on site, and I can live with it. And they gave us a live move-in, and very much appreciated first night/first week feeds. We had some classic comps and some new ones, including my personal favorite, the spectacular hamster wheel veto.

But the problems outweighed the good, by a lot. Cast issues aside, they withheld feeds more than ever before, with BB Canada levels of blockage. BB Canada's always been rotten to their fans but at least their feeds are free. There's no excuse for how much BB22 blocked from us this year, including some very pivotal conversations such as the Christmas/Tyler one, which had farther reaching implications and importance than this TV show.

Big picture, they need to fix what's broken here including the stale casting formula and the racism it tends to bring with it, the predictable and disappointing twists, the inane Diary segments including the repetitive and pointless comp retells, the Game of Thrones level of video darkness and the very poor audio of feeds, not to mention the obnoxiously WAY TOO LOUD music, and the apparent overall disdain for feedsters: their most loyal audience. They need to return to the social experiment this show was meant to be, with unique personalities rather than types. And please, can we keep religious views to religion shows? Aside from being offensive to many, it just looks dumb to hype and praise lying and backstabbing, and then preach kindness with incongruous cliché mottos.

Won: $500,000
HOH 4 - Veto 4 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 2

Winner 9-0, Day 85

He didn't seem much different than his last stint, and he didn't act like he'd matured much either. He's still snorting snot all the time, and he spoke with bad accents for days on end, and randomly got very shouty for no reason, all of which were annoying. Equally annoying were his tongue constantly poking out of his mouth and sprinkling 'like' a dozen times into every sentence. He was liked by most of them most of the time, partly for being casual and friendly in general, and partly for using the first HOH to his social advantage. Like many of them, he acted entitled to be there and to win, and while he did win a very lot of comps, he had a relatively easy run since he never sat on the block. He promised both Enzo and Nicole that he'd take them to the end if the choice was his, but rather than potentially repeating his BB16 error, he took the one he was more certain to beat, and so he did. He earned his win, and it was only the third unanimous vote in our history, after Dan Gheesling and Tamar Braxton.

Won: $50,000; Safety Suite #3
HOH 2 - Veto 1 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 2

Runner-up, Day 85

It was good to see him back and to learn his sense of humor was still intact and even upgraded a bit to be less potentially problematic than last time. His social game was superb, as he was friendly to all and friends with most, and as a result he was never nominated. But that seemed to be his only strategy and while he did get Kaysar out on his early HOH, there were far bigger threats he could and should have focused on. Instead he went to the end like he did before but he didn't do it with two solid teamies this time. He didn't have much of a relationship with Nicole and she would have sent him out third again, but he stayed tight with Cody and it paid off to at least sit in the final two chairs. He didn't cheat on Have-not this year and in fact enjoyed it as a diet plan, and he turned Ricolas into dessert mints. He seems a good guy, devoted to his kids, and his constant patter and one-liners helped keep the feeds alive.

Won: $20,000; 1 week SLOPPIES box
HOH 1 - Veto 1 - Noms 3/0/0 - HN 2

9th juror, 14th evicted, Day 85

She spent much of the first weeks in tears or complaining, mostly about Janelle. She seemed to fall into alliances that kept her safe, or maybe that was all pre-set - we'll never know. She didn't win any comps til the end but she did do some driving, mostly by a combo of victimizing herself and vilifying her targets, which somehow was effective. Her targets were usually personal - due to a joke here, a vote there, another show a couple years ago. And laughing about Ian being mocked got her released by some sponsors. She and Ian had the first pinkyswear of the season, on Day 3, but she broke that F2 with a whopper of a vote lie that had bigger implications than an eviction. She didn't fess up about that but a wall yeller spilled the truth. She was close with Dani but also not, and she was tight with Cody from the start, and it was mostly mutual, but he double-dipped a lot and cut her at the end. She said she deserved to win many times in her talks to herself and us, but third place for her third time isn't too shabby. She broke records for most days in the house, and most total costumes worn, and she would have won Deathrace a third time but I let it quietly die this year due to virus death charts taking over the hashtag.

Won: $12,500; Safety Suite #2; Safety Suit #3 (Enzo's win)/1 week star babies; Basement Blocker power/unused
HOH 1 - Veto 2 - Noms 3/1/0 - HN 2

8th juror, 13th evicted, Day 79

Kevin put it best: he said she's got a lot of demons she hasn't dealt with, but she preaches like she has. She added her son's birth to the rotating, repetitive repertoire of Christmas-centric topics we heard last time. She often talked about her therapy but never mentioned it was court-ordered, and despite endless convos about herself she never brought up her felony car-ramming charges. She raved I'm gonna get shot shortly before nominating Bayleigh and Da'Vonne, but she hugged them and cried after she did. Then steam came out of her ears in the one major fight of the season, versus both of them, after she refused Tyler's 'send me home' plea. She advertised 'comp beast' but didn't deliver, she was a snotty winner and very sore loser, and she still doesn't have a shred of empathy or humility.

Won: $5,000; Replay power (from Dani)
HOH 3 - Veto 1 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 1

7th juror, 12th evicted, Day 72

He fell flat on his face on premiere and he lost his temper in a big way early on when BB wouldn't turn off the Have-not lights. He wasn't big on pre-nom meetings as HOH, and he advertised a convoluted 'secret plan' one week, which turned out to be exactly what was expected: getting David out. He had it in for David for no good reason long before that, and he caused waves outside our BB world by allegedly using the n-word. He had a sore back for weeks and then a sore foot, so he hobbled around a lot. He was early to bed and early to rise, and had the reputation in there and out here of being an old man grandpa, even though he was exactly midway age-wise in the cast. He and Christmas bonded in later weeks and 'Memphmas' fanfic was a highlight of his final week.

Won: $5,000
HOH 2 - Veto 2 - Noms 1/0/1 - HN 1

6th juror, 11th evicted, Day 65

He again made multiple F2s, and landed in various versions of the intertwined big power alliances. He and Bayleigh worked out their issues and fell apart again a few times, and he tangled with Dani, a bad combo for him on top of David's early tell-all faux pas. He showed some entitlement about winning the season, but he told Bayleigh and Da'Vonne that he'd ask Christmas to veto-replace him for one of them so he could go home pre-jury, citing BLM as 'something greater' they were playing for, but his talk with Christmas was shamefully withheld from feeds so we'll never know how it truly unfolded. He bashed us feedsters, and he played hard if desperate at times, but his comp streak wasn't there and he wasn't in on the pre-season ground floor to get to the end.

Won: $5,000; Slop pass, home gym; Basement Replay power/used on Memphis
HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 1

5th juror, 10th evicted, Day 58

She said she wanted to take Janelle's BB Queen crown, but instead she probably damaged her BB reputation. Not only did she not win comps like she used to, but she failed to bring the entertainment factor. To be fair, she didn't whine and complain as much as her prior seasons, but she came close. She either didn't pre-game well or she changed her mind once she saw who all was in there, and when she talked too much too soon about turning on her allies, it was her undoing. She had to nominate four people in her disastrous HOH week, and inexplicably decided not to push for Tyler to go once she had him on the block, even though her original plan for the week was to boot him out the backdoor.

Won: $10,000; Basement Disruptor/gave himself immunity Week 6
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 4/0/0 - HN 2

4th juror, 9th evicted, Day 58

He got a lot of flak for not being an 'all-star' but many of them technically weren't, and he deserved another shot more than most first boots. He went farther than many expected, but that was mostly due to power group shufflings rather than his own doing, other than the save he earned himself with the Disruptor power. But he blew that by fake crying and bad lying, and he caused a number of rants when he took $10k rather than veto in OTEV. He was an erratic player, often seeming brilliant and clueless in the same moment, but he eventually worked himself into a decent social position against many odds, not the least being Nicole's vote lie. But Memphis finally got his way and got him gone.

Won: Nothing
HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 5/0/0 - HN 2

3rd juror, 8th evicted, Day 58

He went on the block at the start and never recovered. He wouldn't forgive his former idol Janelle from preferring Keesha stay that first week so he tattled on her, which helped to destroy all hope of the outliers banding together to take on the dominant power alliances. Then he became the pawn star and was nominated four more times, winning only one veto himself and once benefiting from Da'Vonne's win. He spent way too much time trying to analyze who was with whom, sometimes accurately but often way off, and he didn't do anything about it anyway. He was perky and snarky in Diary, but on feeds he was mostly miserable and mopey, rarely coming out of his Eeyore gloom.

Won: $30,000
HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 2/0/0 - HN 2

VIEWER FAVORITE WINNER
2nd juror, 7th evicted, Day 51

Winning BB was one goal she didn't achieve, but she was highly successful with her other goal, to raise awareness of the extra challenges Black hamsters face in this game. Those goals conflicted when David tattled a confidence and again when she believed Nicole's lie blaming her vote on David. She made some messy game choices, but she made eloquent, impassioned block speeches, she had compelling in-depth convos, particularly with Kaysar, and she pointed out the frustrating facts when her point was repeatedly proven. She won a huge but teeny tiny veto, and she once again provided endless reaction memes and gifs. She was the heart and soul, and most of the entertainment, of this season.

Won: Safety Suit #2 (Christmas's win)/1 week space skits
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/1/0 - HN 2

1st juror, 6th evicted, Day 44

His plan to lay low at first was foiled by the ones who started gaming long before move-in, and his F2 with Nicole was only insurance on her part since she was tighter with the power group. Learning that broke him and it was downhill from there. He showed some entitlement about deserving to win but talked about his struggles learning to lose, which proved him vulnerable and human. He did a superb job with his skits, and talked openly about being on the spectrum, and it was so good to see him again. As before, I wish him well in all he does.

Won: 500 tricycle laps
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1

5th evicted, Day 37

She and Tyler had their ups and downs, repairing their relationship from last time and breaking it up again, and that affected the game in various ways. Her friendship with Janelle was fun to watch, and her friendship with Da'Vonne was golden, the type that will likely last long after this season's forgotten. She gave yoga classes, and she rode 500 backyard laps on a tricycle as a veto repercussion, 40 with only one pedal, and BB didn't even put it on the show. Her great attitude riding those laps, mostly to spite her haters, was a joy to behold.

Won: Safety Suite #1
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 2/0 - HN 1

4th evicted, Day 30

His BB strategy plans have always held promise but implementing them, not so much. But no matter: he was and is a class act, and he always brings the kind of much-needed humanity our feeds are usually lacking in a big way. It's too bad things didn't work out differently this time but it was great to see him on our feeds again, both for himself and for his fun friendship with Janelle.

Won: Safety Suit #1 (Kaysar's win)/1 week star
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1

3rd evicted, Day 23

It was great to see her on feeds again, especially her easy friendship with Kaysar. She was BB6 Janelle again but without the in-your-face name-calling that would have made things more fun for us, but props to her for not going there. It's astounding how hard she was targeted just for showing up, proof that Janellousy is still real.

Won: Nothing
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1

2nd evicted, Day 16

Imagine going on BB and not wanting to work with Janelle and Kaysar. Having them to go bat for you, hard, and then throwing it back in their faces. It's mind-boggling. She was in way over her head this season, made one bad decision after another, and she repeatedly promised us a house meeting that she never delivered.

Won: Nothing
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 0

1st evicted, Day 9

She was feisty her first time around but like all of them, she's older and more mature now, and her birthday happened before they moved in, so we didn't get any new memorable Keesha scenes. But it was good to see her again and she got a nice check for two weeks isolation and one week of summer camp.
