He got emotional and had trouble getting through his letter from girlfriend Megan. Among his goodies were various soaps plus hair elastics - not uncommon in HOH baskets but yep, the jokes write themselves. Jasmine lingered behind and blamed the Oasis leak on Taylor (like clockwork), saying maybe she'd overheard it, and she pushed for Taylor/Nicole noms with a Taylor target. Daniel and Kyle followed and seemed to believe the Taylor leak story (though Daniel was one of the actual leaks, along with Monte). Daniel pushed hard for Brittany/Michael noms in his ongoing and vicious anti-Brittany crusade. Turner told them about having partnered with Brittany and he played that off as a joke. We'll see how it goes when the two of them meet alone.Pre-noms meetings kicked off while psst-pssting about them carried on elsewhere. Sorry to say I missed Brittany's but I suspect it was a lot of shmoozing on both sides. Turner ended Michael's meeting by saying it would be "worst case scenario" but if he does end up putting him and Brittany on the block it'd be as pawns, and his speech will be "less than pleasant" for misdirection for the others. He added it would be "fake and tame" and not awful. Michael said "give 'em good TV." (Actually if noms are Brittany/Michael it would be to keep Taylor from playing veto.) Brittany and Daniel agreed Besties is a good twist and Daniel said he hoped viewers think so too - nope! Meetings cycled along, both duos and singles. Nicole went with Taylor and made a big show of announcing she'd picked Taylor as her pair "to protect her." Turner asked Ameerah and Terrance if Pooch going was his own doing or if it was due to Taylor campaigning. Ameerah slipped for a second by saying "it was him" but she immediately added that Taylor was reiterating Pooch's crimes as her campaign. Terrace said Taylor was using and magnifying all that, "and she told everyone that shit." Turner told them his plan to pawn Brittany/Michael to target Taylor and of course they were on board, along with those who followed. Turner more or less agreed with Monte and Joseph that he'd choose them if he draws HG Choice chip for veto. Turner then told Brittany and Michael they'd be getting camera time this afternoon but that they'd be pawns. He didn't tell them Brittany would be the target if Taylor (or Nicole accidentally) win veto. Michael and Brittany later said if Taylor wins veto they could ask her to use it on them, and tell her she was the backdoor plan. Michael later reported to Nicole that Brittany apparently gave Turner the impression that it was okay to put them up. Turner nominated Brittany and Michael as planned. Whether Taylor knows the plan or not is uncertain as nobody talks sincerely with her. She probably has an inkling she's back on top of most hit lists but outwardly she continues to appear unbothered by any of it, as she has all along. Most of the rest of them went back to psst-pssting and bashing, and eating, like they do. Apparently Taylor said some soup tasted good in front of Have-not Indy, who later told Taylor it made her (Indy) feel disrespected. And apparently Taylor bumped Jasmine's foot before nominations. Brittany retold that as she "knocked it the other way" and later Nicole told Jasmine "you literally just had your ankle mangled again today." Turner explained his thrift/rug shop in detail to Kyle, and they both griped about all the talk talk talk all day long in there. Brittany went into a crying spiral alone in Have-not, saying it wasn't about being nominated but she didn't think she was doing well, socially or strategically. She said it's too hard but it's her dream, and "why can't I be like Alyssa? She's cute, she's pretty, she laughs all the time." She said she'd hypnotized everyone to have a great week and now she's on the block. She eventually hypnotized herself to calm down and regroup. After a lengthy socializing session, Taylor told herself/us "somehow I think I'm the villain - everybody else goes harder with each other than I go with anyone, but I can take it, it's not worth having the house against you" (oops, they are anyway). She added "I'm still the villain, the smallest things will have people rolling their eyes and saying you rubbed the house the wrong way." She too regrouped, "I'm just frustrated, but the key is still getting out there and putting on a good face, no matter how frustrated you are," and she did just that. Nicole made a sugar-free cake for Joseph's birthday tomorrow, they all whooped and hollered at him at midnight, and sang Happy Birthday. Indy went in for a birthday hug and smashed an egg on his head, a Brazilian tradition she'd them about earlier. No word yet if anyone felt disrespected by the egg or the cake. Michael peptalked himself about tomorrow's veto comp, saying he threw the HOH to Jasmine, and he threw last night's HOH comp so he could pick Brittany as his pair, and said he'll "do what I do best, and that is win" and "they don't know what I'm fully capable of, they're gonna find out." Day 16 - Thursday - July 21, 2022Morning of their first eviction kicked off with primping and scrambling. Pooch tried to get assurances and got mostly non-committal answers or lies. Brittany gave him both, telling him she's voting with the house which is probably evicting Taylor but if that flips, she'll still vote with the house, and then she asked Joseph what the house is doing. She also told Michael she's frustrated about having to report every little thing to the girls when they don't keep her informed about what they're doing. Joseph also tried to get commitments for Pooch, and told him he has to give a good speech. Pooch said (correctly) if he has to rely on a speech, it's too late. Ameerah told Alyssa and Nicole she trusts Monte, and Joseph, and she said Monte told her Joseph was freaking out because he's now without an alliance, and that Monte had told him he wasn't ready to commit to one with him yet. Reminder, Alyssa told Kyle last night about the new Old Skool alliance; Kyle reported that to Michael and Monte today. In more urgent breaking news, Turner took yet another shower as the mass primp-a-thon got underway. He had a few Diary calls last night - shocker - and there's been enough chatter about his lack of showers on feeds that I suspect we may see a hygiene segment on Sunday's show. If he's been asked about it in there, it may have woken up some self-awareness. Or maybe it's all been a ploy to get air time. Indy had a lengthy and intense manifest session with herself and her mirror, saying "you can win this" among other things. I don't know if she meant this HOH or the season, maybe both. She and Ameerah planned to run into the bedroom to powder their hands before going out to comp, for non-slip purposes in case it's something that requires holding on. Pooch continued to spiral and scurry, and gripe about Joseph telling him to tone it down again as he was pissing people off. Ironic and tragic, since Joseph's been the only one going to bat for him. Along with Daniel, Michael now also knows Nicole is a former cop. Nicole told him herself, likely to build trust. Feeds came back at 8.40pm, Pooch had been evicted (unanimously, in a blindside), Turner had won HOH, Julie wore orange floral, and Festie Bestie pairs were in place - more on that in a bit. Turner said he'll finally get some Diaries (he's only had six Diary segments air on the show leading into tonight's - tv-onlies probably think he's a stagehand). He also said it worked out that he hadn't done any laundry yet since now he'll have that service provided. He said he wanted to target whoever originally pitched for Pooch to go (nevermind that was Pooch himself, volunteering as pawn), and also said he knew that wasn't Taylor so maybe she'll get a reprieve this week. The comp sounded similar to the one they have to watch a monitor to wait for a GO signal, and it involved chairs somehow. Kyle and Nicole were DQd for false starts, and Kyle broke a handle of some kind. Nicole said Turner had been super focused, and there was talk about him crying and chanting his girlfriend Megan's name throughout. The Festie Besties twist was in play. Competitors picked their partners and the pairings were Alyssa/Indy, Ameerah/Terrance, Brittany/Michael, Daniel/Kyle, Jasmine/Turner, Joseph/Monte, Nicole/Taylor. The twist will last beyond this week but it's not known how long, or if the pairs can or will rotate later. Nominations will be HOH Turner's decision but his pair (Jasmine) is safe for the week. He can't but she can compete for HOH next week and if she wins, he'll also be safe again. One pair will be nominated, and pairs will compete together. One duo (or one name plus their pair) will be drawn to play veto, making up the usual six players (HOH plus one, nominated duo, drawn duo). If a nominee wins veto, both come off the block, and another duo goes up. I assume the veto winner's pair will be safe along with the winner. I don't know if duos will vote together, or what happens to the surviving nominee next week. Turner read the Have-not card which said only one pair will be Have-nots this week, and he passed the decision to Jasmine. Awkward silence ensued as nobody wanted to volunteer or repeat, and Jasmine didn't have the pairs memorized yet. Eventually Alyssa and Indy volunteered, even though Indy had used the prop phone earlier to send a prayer she not be Have-not. Whispers about nominations started buzzing everywhere, like they do. Michael and Taylor thought either of them and their pairs would go up but Brittany and Turner have a pinkyswear pact, and remember last night Turner and Pooch agreed they thought Joseph was the one who spilled about Oasis (both Monte and Daniel did).
